Melina Almodóvar's Story
Melina Almodóvar, a talented salsa singer, was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, and spent her early years in Toa Baja, Levittown, Puerto Rico. Growing up in a highly artistic family that cherished art, music, and poetry, she developed a deep love for the island and became enamored with Salsa music from a young age.
After relocating to Memphis, Tennessee, Melina immersed herself in the local music scene, playing in rock and blues bands until she was invited to front her first Salsa Band, Orquesta Caliente. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of her illustrious journey in Salsa music.
In 2005, Melina moved to South Florida, where she emerged as the most significant exponent of Salsa music, representing both Puerto Rico and South Florida. She has performed in countless shows across the United States, the Caribbean, and Latin America, captivating audiences with her joyful performances and impressive stage presence.
Her vibrant energy and passion for Salsa music have led to her charting on important tropical music rankings, including reaching #24 on the Billboard Tropical charts with her song “Con Mi Sabor.” More recently, her hit “La Vida es Bella - Mira Lo Bueno” entered the top 25 of both the Salsa charts and Billboard Tropical Airplay. Melina has garnered a strong following of Salseros from around the world.
In addition to her music career, Melina produces two major festivals in South Florida dedicated to Salsa music: Hollywood Salsa Fest and Miami Beach Salsa Fest. She has shared the stage with renowned Salsa icons like Gilberto Santa Rosa, Richie Ray, Bobby Cruz, Puerto Rican Power, La Sonora Ponceña, and El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, among others. With over fifteen years of experience performing on some of the largest stages, including Radio City Music Hall and Yankee Stadium, Melina continues to shine in the Salsa music scene.
Melina also boasts a robust social media following, where fans are drawn to her music, performances, and charismatic personality. She has appeared on prominent television shows in the United States, including Telemundo's “Hoy Dia“ and Univision's “Despierta America.”
